Call Waiting

To Use Call Waiting:
1. When you’re on a call, you’ll hear a special tone signaling that someone else is trying to reach you.
2. To take the incoming call, press the telephone latch hook for one second. This also puts the first call on hold.
3. Press the latch hook again to switch between calls.

Some things to Remember:

  • Call Waiting allows you to answer another incoming call while you are on the line. A third caller will hear a busy signal or be sent to Voice Mail if you subscribe to the feature.
  • If you complete your first call and hang up when you hear the call waiting tone, you will automatically connect to the second person within two seconds.
  • If the first person hangs up, you will automatically connect to the second person within two seconds.

Wake Up Service:

To Turn Wake Up Service On:

Example: If you want a wake up call at 6:30 A.M. to ring 7 times.

Some things To Remember:

  • Wake Up Service will automatically ring your phone ten times if you don’t input the number of times you want it to ring. If unanswered it will automatically call two more times in seven minute intervals.
  • When you answer a wake up call. You will hear a low tone in the receiver. This is the wake up call indicator tone.
  • This feature can also be used as an alert during the day for meetings or appointments.
  • The wake up Service will cancel itself each day.

  • While Call Return is trying to reach a bust number, you can make and receive other calls.

  • If you do not pick up the phone, the special ring will repeat two more times.
  • If the busy number and your number are both not available within 30 minutes, Call Return automatically turns off without notice.

Repeat Dialing (*66)

(Also known as Automatic Callback)

To use Repeat dialing:

  1. Lift the handset and listen for dial tone.
  2. Press *66 (or dial 1166 if you don’t have push button service).
  3. You will hear an announcement telling you the number is busy. The system will check the line for 30 minutes. You will be notified by a special ringing when the party is free.
  4. Hang Up
  5. When the number you called is no longer busy, your telephone will ring with a series of short-short-long rings.
  6. Lift the handset and the call will be connected. You will hear normal ringing tone.

 

To turn off Repeat Dialing:

  1. Lift the handset and listen for dial tone.
  2. Press *86 (or dial 1186 if you don’t have push button service).
  3. An announcement will tell you that all outstanding call back requests have been deactivated.

 

Some things to remember:

  • Repeat dialing will only work on calls made to numbers within your defined calling area.
  • Occasionally, the person you are calling uses the phone before Repeat Dialing can complete your call. If this happens a voice recording will tell you to start the Repeat Dialing service again.
  • When your phone rings with a short-short-long ring, you need to answer by the third series of rings or repeat dialing will pause and try to complete your call 5 minutes later. Repeat dialing will ring your phone every 5 minutes unless you cancel our request.
  • You can use repeat dialing to return calls to more than one busy number at the same time.

If the number is not busy, the call will be placed immediately.

Select Call Acceptance (*64)

Customer Originated Call Trace (*57)

To Use Customer Originated Call Trace:

  1. Hang up after receiving the offensive call.
  2. Wait 10 seconds, then lift the handset and listen for a dial tone.
  3. Press *57, (or dial 1157 if you don’t have push button service).
  4. Listen to the voice recording instructions. If the trace is successful, a voice recording will give you further instructions. If the number could not be traced, an error announcement will be received.

 

Some Things to Remember:

    • If you successfully trace a call and choose to take further action, you must contact Riviera Telephone Co. within 10 days or the call record will no longer be stored in the system.
    • To take legal action, call your local law enforcement agency.
    • The records of any Call Trace will be released by Riviera Telephone Co. to a law enforcement agency only.
    • Standard charge will apply for every successful trace.
